What Happens During a Typical Dental Checkup?
Your dental checkup will be with our phenomenal family dentist, Dr. Andrew Glynn. After taking X-rays and conducting a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, as well as an oral cancer screening, Dr. Glynn will go over his findings with you. If a cavity, signs of gum disease, or other symptoms of oral health problems are present, Dr. Glynn will discuss his treatment recommendations with you and answer any questions you may have. He can also provide you with some helpful home oral hygiene tips to keep your smile’s health on the right track.
What Happens During a Typical Dental Cleaning?
Regular dental cleanings in Reynoldsburg are completed by our skilled dental hygienists. First, they will remove all plaque and tartar accumulation from the surface of your teeth using a scaler. They’ll then floss between each of the teeth to remove any food debris. Finally, before you leave, your dental hygienist will polish your teeth to remove any surface stains using prophylaxis paste. If you opt into receiving a fluoride treatment, we’ll also apply a fluoridated gel or foam to your teeth.
Brushing & Flossing at Home
You can control your oral health by establishing a habit of brushing twice daily with a soft toothbrush using the proper technique and a quality fluoride toothpaste, as well as flossing carefully daily. These days, there are a host of advanced toothpastes, rinses, and electric toothbrushes that can help you do a much more thorough job than was possible in the past. The most effective thing you can do is to call the dental office for an evaluation of your condition and get some advice as to which of the many new products would benefit you most. If we don’t have them here in the dental office for you, we can help you obtain them.
While your toothbrush will do an excellent job of cleaning the tops and sides of your teeth, there are plenty of places your toothbrush just can’t reach. That’s why flossing should be an essential part of any home care regimen, too! Spending just an extra minute or two flossing each day will help you remove leftover particles of food from between your teeth and control the accumulation of harmful bacteria, plaque, and tartar. For the best results, you should floss at least once a day, preferably right before bedtime.
